Climbers excel - ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

Before half term, the college organised the third Southern Schools Indoor Climbing Championship at High Sports in Brighton, featuring a mix of bouldering routes (low-level climbing without ropes) and lead or top-rope routes (high-level ascent with ropes).

Five local schools took part in this competition, located from Tonbridge to Lancing, which was a high standard, hard-fought event. ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ and Tonbridge took most of the medals in the advanced category and there was an even split of medals between ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½, Tonbridge and Cranleigh within the intermediate category. ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ climbers also performed well in the individual competition, as Felix and Tom both achieved first place in their categories, and juniors Rohan and Benny both won medals.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable event and so good to organise a competitive championship in a minor sport Fred Simkins, Director of Outdoor Education
