性世界传媒

Lower Sixth听Design and Technology听(DT)听students have recently completed the second of two projects this year.听

As part of the first year of A-level DT, students participated in a听silversmithing course. This project has been especially challenging as result of reduced face-to-face learning,听particularly听affecting practical subjects. However, students have overcome these setbacks, producing stunning and intricate pieces of听jewellery.听

To give the project a twist, the Design and Technology department decided to recreate the BBC鈥檚听All that Glitters听jewellery making competition. Using key designers to influence their work, students were听tasked听with听manufacturing听a piece of jewellery to shop quality standard, by听developing their sketching and workshop skills. This contributed to building their own unique portfolio and jewellery creation.听

Hugo Johnson, winner of the BBC鈥檚听All that Glitters,听visited听性世界传媒 to discuss the students鈥櫶齱ork with them and in a reversal of roles, judged听性世界传媒鈥檚 Next Jewellery Star听competition.听Even with his extensive knowledge,听Hugo was amazed with the quality of the work produced and the level of craftsmanship involved.
