Lord Taverner’s Cup Finals - ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

The U14As played in the Lord Taverner’s Cup finals day on Monday 26th June. A 12-man squad took on Lancing in the semi-final. ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ produced an excellent bowling display to restrict Lancing to just 99 runs off their 20 overs.

The ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ top order knocked off the runs in just 11 overs in a dominant performance. Sam S ended up on an impressive 53 off just 38 balls and Oli W produced a great sporting moment as he blocked out two balls to allow Sam to get his 50 and the winning runs.

The final was played shortly afterward and saw ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ vs Bedes playing for the trophy. ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ won the toss and made a perfect start in the field leaving Bedes 5-3. This was largely due to a great opening spell from Edmund F and Jack K.

However, thanks to some strong batting from ex-England wicketkeeper Matt Prior’s son scoring a well-paced 50. On a turning pitch, Bedes ended up on a very respectable 131. Unfortunately, the ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ batters struggled to get going, largely due to some excellent spin bowling from Bedes.

ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ fell short of the total, but still ended the day as the 2nd best T20 team in Sussex.
