YearÌý6ÌýpupilsÌýhave been learning about living things and habitats during their science lessons this term.ÌýTo help put thisÌýintoÌýcontext they headedÌýoutÌýfor aÌýdayÌýatÌý,ÌýforÌýa series of interactive workshops.ÌýÌý

The main sessionÌýinvolved howÌýgiraffes adaptedÌýto theirÌýenvironment, withÌýuniquely long legs and necks.ÌýTheÌýzookeeperÌýkept the pupils engaged and excited with interesting facts, such asÌý‘did you know the pattern of a giraffe’s coat is as individualÌýas a humanÌýfingerprint?’ÌýÌý

Following on from the workshop, pupils headed to the classroomsÌýfor a session looking at bones and skulls.ÌýThisÌýprovidedÌýan exciting opportunity for them to handleÌýbones and skulls ofÌýdifferentÌýanimals.ÌýÌý

As the day progressed, pupils had the opportunityÌýto browse the various animal enclosures. TheÌýmeerkats and snow leopards were the most popularÌýbutÌýnot quite asÌýpopular as the gift shop!Ìý
