Swimming - ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

Training

Swimming is a popular sport at ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ and, due to its growth in popularity in recent years, swimming is now offered as a year-round sport with the majority of the fixtures taking place in the Michaelmas and Lent terms. This also includes three games swimming options for Juniors (year 9 and 10) and Seniors (year 11-13). In addition to the training offered during games sessions, early morning coaching sessions are also available.

All students have the chance to train through the week in addition to games sessions and weekly lessons. This provides swimmers with support in their swim training as well as a club training environment during the week to assist pupils/parents and it also maintains, or tops up, their swimming whilst at school to help maintain their fitness for club swimming.

Pupils in the senior school also have the opportunity to use the scheduled S and C sessions in the evenings and specific 1-1 sessions can be arranged for sports scholars and team members.

Holiday Training

During specific holidays we run a series of skill and technical development sessions to further enhance swimmers ability.

To support our pupils development and assist their club swimming we can provide video analysis and feedback on a 1-1 basis as required. Additional 1-1 to sessions can be offered to those looking to develop/correct specific parts of their stroke, swim skills or even additional training for a specific event. These can be booked with Mr Murphy on Saturday afternoons.

Skills and Technical Development Sessions

Within our games programme we run a series of skills and technical development sessions which can include video analysis and feedback on a 1-1 basis as required.

Fixtures and Tournaments

Galas take place throughout the school year, usually on Thursdays and Saturdays, and our teams compete in both inter-school and national competitions including the School Swimming Super League. Our swimming squads have a strong reputation across Sussex, through their successes at the ESSA Nationals and Bath Cup, and they are always highly ranked at events.

Water Polo

Every year we hold inter-house boys’ and girls’ Water Polo competitions, which are held in the College pool, and are enjoyable and well-supported events in the school calendar.

Facilities

ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ has an indoor heated 25m (4 lanes) swimming pool on site. ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ has invested in a new, state-of-the-art swimming pool which is currently being built on the ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ campus. Building work is currently taking place at ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ College. The opening of our new swimming pool is still to be confirmed.

The Senior School girls’ team remain unbeaten at inter-school galas over the past couple of years and the boys’ swimming team is now one of the strongest in recent times. Mr Murphy, Master-in-Charge of Swimming
