Silver DofE expedition assessments - ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½

The year endedÌýwithÌýa flurry ofÌýexpeditionÌýassessments for both Year 11 and Year 12 students. With all the changes inÌýrequirementsÌýfrom the DofE our Outdoor Education Department hasÌýestablishedÌýa suitable alternativeÌýfor our students.

On day one, the various groups went by minibus to Tottington ManorÌýandÌýcommencedÌýtheir trek upÌýEdburtonÌýHill. They walked along the Downs to Devil’s Dyke towards ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ – for an arduous start.

After camping at ÐÔÊÀ½ç´«Ã½ overnight, dayÌýtwoÌýinvolvedÌýaÌývery scenic loop around Ditchling and Wivelsfield, which seemed to cause the most navigation issues.ÌýAnother night of camping and then on day three the groups went up Jack & Jill, down and upÌýtoÌýWaterhall,Ìýdown andÌýup toÌýSadlescombeÌýand the same again for Devil’s Dyke.Ìý

The weather had been kind to all the groups throughout and most enjoyed theÌýhome-grownÌýassessment, but of course,ÌýpleasedÌýto have completed their award with aÌýsuccessfulÌýexpedition.Ìý Fred Simkins, Director of Outdoor Education
